About Us

CLEAR GRAND is a cooperative effort to keep the water clean in Grand Lake, the Grand Neosho River, and all the other lakes and streams that lie upstream of Grand Lake.

This effort is headed by the Water Quality Division of the Oklahoma Conservation Commission.  This project has multiple partners including the US Environmental Protection Agency, Grand Lake Association, Conservations Districts (Mayes, Ottawa, Craig, and Delaware), Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Oklahoma State University, OSU Cooperative Extension  (Mayes, Ottawa, Craig, and Delaware), many agencies in Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas, AND YOU (the public), to name a few.

This project is 60% funded by Federal Clean Water Act, Section 319 allocation through the US Environmental Protection Agency, with 40% matching contributions from the State of Oklahoma and other funds.

PROJECT COORDINATOR

Kevin Gustavson, Grand Lake Project Coordinator and Technical Writer, has a Ph.D. in geology (surface processes) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a professional certificate in Watershed Management from Michigan State University.  He came to Oklahoma in 2005 to lead the CLEAR GRAND project after several years of teaching earth science and working on watershed and surficial geology projects at Eastern Michigan University.  An outdoor enthusiast, Kevin has a strong desire to help conserve America’s natural resources for current and future generations.
